::Oh, I have rediscovered the wisdom of Adam Kander through the unfortunately not updated Adam and Riley site...... but here... one of the best quotes I've seen for a long while...

There are no requirements in life.
Think about it.

When you’re in school, there are always requirements. Write this paper, take this test, do this project. Requirements. Do this or else you will flunk; you will fail. That is how it works in school. But, that is not how it works in life.

If you are alive, then at some point you were born. At least, that is the theory we will go with. Now, you can’t prevent yourself from being born… and, you can’t control much that happens in the first few years of life. You are not yet developed enough to take control of your own destiny. So, I suppose my original statement is not quite correct. In the beginning stages of life, you do not really have any choices… so, in a way, everything you do is “required”. However, after you reach the point in your maturity where you are able to make your own choices… all of these requirements disappear.

You are not required to do anything. You don’t have to get out of bed, or eat, or remain alive if you don’t want to. You don’t have to go to college, get a job, make money, or raise a family. Our society tells us that we must do these things. The truth is, these are not requirements of life. Life requires nothing of us. We can do whatever we want. We can look at this as something either good or bad; an opportunity or a dismal proclamation of doom. Your life is yours to do with as you wish. You can conform to societies desires, and become another nameless person wandering through a world of rules and constraints. Or, you can choose to live outside of society, as an outcast, though perhaps with more freedom and expression. Or, you can choose any path in between. Life is completely open-ended. The only certainty is death. Everything else is up to you.

Have a nice life. I dare you.
